A Structured approach to reading
Fuzzbuzz is a successful reading scheme designed specifically for children who are still non readers at the age of 7+. It takes a highly structured approach to learning to read, breaking down skills of word recognition, comprehension and phonics into a series of carefully graded steps.

Developing Word Recognition Skills
Children learn word recognition skills, and aquire a sight vocabulary through the fuzzbuzz workbooks. The Workbooks are divided into sections which systematically introduce the words needed for a specific storybook. These workbooks are integral to the success of the Fuzzbuzz scheme.

Reading Success
Once children can read all the words in the workbooks they are ready to move on the corresponding storybook. This means that when they open the storybook they meet only familar words and, for the first time can read a complete story.

A tried and tested solution for special needs

Fuzzbuzz is available in three main levels

Level 1 - 1, 1A and 1B

• Leads to a reading vocabulary of 100 words (20 new words per story)
• Revises the 100 words and introduces 8 composite words
• Provides further practice of Level 1 vocabulary and introduces capital letters, full stops, and question marks

Level 2 - 2, 2A and 2B

• Introduces 150 more sight words (25 per book)
• Provides further practice in vocabulary and phonic skills
• Provides more practice in preparation for Level 3

Level 3 - 3, 3A

• The pupil who has completed the scheme will have read over 100,000 running words and more than 4,000 different words. Phonic skills provide a potential reading vocabulary of several thousand more

Using Fuzzbuzz

There is a teachers book which covers all three levels Includes information on the structure and methodology, plus helpful advice on working with all the components.
