Oxford Reading Tree First Phonics


- Promote phonological awareness at Stage 1+ with rhyming stories

FREE with each Pack or Class Pack is a set of Teaching Notes, which provide:
 
- prompts and suggestions for using the books in group and independent reading, including specific activities
- ideas for speaking and listening activities
- ideas for writing activities
- cross-curricular links
- helpful points to help you observe children's developing skills and strategies

They also include:
- a correlation chart showing all vocabulary used
- a correlation chart showing curriculum links
- links to other Oxford Reading Tree material at this level

Additional, or replacement copies of the Teaching Notes are also available

Also available are Take-Home Cards. There's one Card for each of the First Phonics books at Stage 1+, and they're sturdy and hard-wearing, so they'll withstand being sent home in school bags time after time. Ideal for supporting your Home-School Agreement, they each:
 
- offer friendly and helpful tips on helping parents and carers get the most out of - reading with their child
- suggest games and activities linked to the book.		  
  First Phonics Stage 1+

Stage 1+ First Phonics

At Stage 1+, First Phonics books are rhyming stories, with an emphasis on rhythm and rhyme. They have 1-2 sentences per page, and are 8 pages long.

  At Stage 2, First Phonics books practice initial and final consonantsand practice CVC words and reception high frequency words.  
  At Stage 3, First Phonics books practise clear initial and final consonants, Reception and Year 1 sight words, CVC words, and CVCC/CCVC words. They have 1-2 sentences per page, and are 16 pages long.
