Reading Comprehension Cards Sets 1-5

These large, colourful, double-sided cards will encourage your pupils to get to grips with reading!
Full-colour photographs and a mix of fiction and non-fiction texts help keep them engaged while they learn! Cards cover maths, science and social studies topics and each includes multiple-choice questions to answer after reading. Each set includes 60 comprehension cards and Teacher’s Guide. Cards measure 21cm L x 14cm H each.

A lively new series that puts a collection of stimulating and entertaining reading comprehension exercises at your fingertips. Supporting the NLS Framework at Key Stage 2, the exercises in each Reading Comprehension book are grouped and graded within four main skill areas: getting the main idea, making inferences, noting and recalling details, and using context clues. The passages are all illustrated and encompass a wide range of genres including poetry, letters, recipes and newspaper reports. Multiple-choice questions are followed by open-ended activities requiring either an imaginative or reflective response or independent research. Each book contains 64 photocopiable A4 pages and teacher’s notes. A press report of UFO sightings, a letter from a dissatisfied customer and an ape love story – just a few of the lively and varied texts in this book of comprehension exercises. Ideal for children in Second class or for older children with special needs. |

Children love the Stile way of working. It’s fun, it’s highly motivating and it has a unique self-checking system! Using the tried-and-tested Stile Tray, our Stile Extra series offers literacy materials for less able readers from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 3. There are 3 sets of books in the Stile Literacy Programme. Phonics & Spelling works at the word level of the NLS, Grammar & Punctuation at the sentence level and Comprehension at the text level. Now that the ‘Year’ labels have been removed they are totally appropriate to use with older special needs pupils. A collection of 96 funny, factual and fictional exercises. Concentrating on the text level requirements of the NLS Framework, these passages and questions will reinforce and develop the comprehension skills of the less able reader. Children can access text in a meaningful and appropriate way, developing both their independence and their confidence. Contains 12 books (246 x 168mm) and teacher’s notes. The books are packed full of exercises that will provide children with a new and exciting way to develop essential skills. These 6 Foundation books will help to ensure that children entering Year 3 have a good understanding to texts on which to build their future development. They will also be beneficial for those children who need more practice in the comprehension skills introduced at Key Stage 1 and will provide extra support throughout Key Stage 2 for those children with special needs. The 48 self-checking activities in these books offer revision of the main Key Stage 1 text level requirements of the NLS.
