Chatter Box is an exciting range of materials to support children’s speech and language development. Written by a speech and language therapist, the activities are based on our popular photographic and illustrated language cards. Each Chatter Box focuses on a specific aspect of language and offers a comprehensive collection of cards, games, activities and equipment to provide a structured approach to early language development. Packed with ideas, each Chatter Box contains 50 activity cards specifically created for teaching assistants, learning support teachers and class teachers. All contents are stored in a sturdy wooden box.

Basic Language |

| Our first box is designed to help develop children’s receptive and expressive language and focuses on basic vocabulary development. The 386 photo cards included comprise our Nouns Sets 1 and 2, Adjectives, Actions, Prepositions, Parts of the Body and Tense Sequencing cards, along with 50 clearly presented teaching cards; a photocopiable record sheet; and a wide variety of equipment including a magnetic fishing rod, a bean bag, Funtastic Frogs™ counters, dice, spinners and lots, lots more! |

Conceptual Language |

| This Chatter Box helps children understand and use conceptual language. The concepts include categories and associations, inclusion/exclusion, absurdities, comparisons, time and the early mathematical concepts of number, sorting, ordering, space and shape. In this box we’ve included 50 activity cards with games and activities to support the 7 sets of photo and picture cards. Once again we’ve put in a variety of additional items to help you make the most of each session. |

Expressive Language |
|
Our latest Chatter box is designed to stimulate children’s expressive language – particularly the vocabulary needed to describe sequences of events, thoughts and feelings. The aims is to help children begin to use this vocabulary for narrative, descriptions, recognition of emotion and reasoning. As well as the 9 sets of photo and picture cards and 50 activity cards, we’ve included a variety of additional items to bring the best our of each session.

Sequential Thinking 1-5
Stimulate your children to tell stories, question and predict using these beautifully illustrated sequencing cards. As you progress through the sets the sequences become visually and logically more complex. As well as encouraging communication skills, the cards develop important pre-reading skills, such as left to right orientation. Each set contains 2 question mark cards which can be used to replace pictures and encourage imaginative thinking and prediction.

Action Lotto
This exciting lotto game helps develop key language skills in an enjoyable way. Designed especially for children with speech and language difficulties, the aim is to identify and match everyday actions. 4 photographic scene cards show actions in the kitchen, bedroom, lounge and garden. Within each scene children depict different target verbs. There are 3 different games to play: (A) In 1, children play a simple matching game, finding the objects associated with each verb in the scene cards (B) In game 2, children match an action from the scene card with a playing card showing exactly the same verb (C) In game 3, children match an action from the scene card (cutting a cake with a knife), with a playing card showing the same verb in a different context, such. Action Lotto is ideal to stimulate discussion and to practise more demanding syntactic and semantic activities. The cards and boards are extra thick to ensure they stand the test of time, and all activities can be made easier or harder to match the ability of the child you are working with.
